THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE EXHIBITIONS: "UNCLE HO AND HANOI" AND "LOTUS CALLIGRAPHY"
On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), on May 18, 2023, the Hanoi Museum held the opening of two special exhibitions: "Uncle Ho and Hanoi" and the Art Space "Lotus Calligraphy". These exhibitions were organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with President Ho Chi Minh's Vestige in the Presidential Palace Area and the Cultural Heritage Association of Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Dang Thi Bich Lien, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition; Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy Director of President Ho Chi Minh's vestige in the Presidential Palace Area; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Cultural Heritage Association of Vietnam; Mr. Le Hong Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Head of Culture and Social Affairs Committee of Hanoi People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Kim Khiem, General Director, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Radio - Television Station; Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and representatives of the Popularisation and Education Department of the Hanoi Party Committee and leaders of the departments and units under the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, scientists Academics, Board of Directors, teachers, students of some universities, high schools and junior high schools in Hanoi, central and Hanoi press agencies. Several witnesses who directly met President Ho Chi Minh and representatives of the family of artisans who restored Uncle Ho's rubber sandals also attended the opening ceremony.
Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, spoke at the opening ceremony. He emphasized: "Hanoi is the place to mark President Ho Chi Minh's special outstanding dedication to the Party and Government. During his life of revolutionary activities, Hanoi was the place where he stayed the longest (17 years, from 1945 - 1946 and 1954 - 1969). His sentiments and profound instructions are an invaluable legacy, a guideline for all activities of the Party Committee, government and people of Hanoi, contributing to building an increasingly civilized and modern capital”.

Mr. Do Dinh Hong added: "After nearly five months of research and preparation of display content, with more than 200 documents, photos and artefacts in 3 exhibition topics, it will help visitors better understand the person, the revolutionary, President Ho Chi Minh; his dedication for the Party Committee, government and people of the capital, as well as the respect of the Party, government and people of the capital for him".
The exhibition introduces the public to more than 200 documents and artefacts about President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the entire Party and people, the hero of national liberation, the outstanding communist soldier, and a world cultural celebrity who paid particular attention to the Party Committee and people of Hanoi, to build Hanoi into a political, economic and cultural centre for the whole country.
Exhibition space "Uncle Ho and Hanoi"
The exhibition includes three parts: Hanoi and Uncle Ho; Uncle Ho and Hanoi; Hanoi follows Uncle Ho's words. The first part is "Hanoi and Uncle Ho", displaying documents and artefacts about places that marked essential milestones in Uncle Ho's life of revolutionary activities in Hanoi. That is the image of Hanoi welcoming Uncle Ho, responding to Uncle Ho's call, and contributing spiritually to the resistance war through the movement of rice jars to save hunger, eradicate ignorance, rallies, and elections. This section displays documents about President Ho Chi Minh's vestige in the Presidential Palace Area and pictures on the day Uncle Ho passed away.
In the second part, "Uncle Ho and Hanoi", documents and pictures show
Uncle Ho's concern and direction with the Party Committee, government and people of Hanoi in the following fields: Construction Party building, government, national security, development of culture, health care and education. In this part, there are many documents and pictures about his sentiments for people from all walks of life.
Part Three, "Hanoi follows Uncle Ho's words", introduces documents and images about the unremitting efforts and unity of the Party Committee, Government and people of Hanoi to build the capital into a developed, civilized, modern city. There are documents and pictures on the city's development planning, achievements in economic development, making the Party and government, and development of elegant and civilized Hanoians.

There is also a combination of calligraphy paintings, "Lotus Calligraphy", which introduces nearly 40 works of Lotus Calligraphy combined with the poems of President Ho Chi Minh and the verses of the Vietnamese people. His sayings about life are significant. The entire exhibition space is decorated according to the artwork's theme to show the gratitude and sincere heart of the Hanoi people, who are always grateful to President Ho Chi Minh - the nation's beloved leader.

During the opening ceremony, there was an exchange program with historical witnesses and a donation of artefacts to the Hanoi Museum.
